“Islamic” Bandits Launch Terror Attacks on Key Mozambican Town

by Manuel Sousa

Over fourteen bandits and two policemen died in a number of attacks and counter attacks on the police stations of Mocimboa da Praia on the border with Tanzania.

One bandit has been arrested. He claims he was paid US$40 to take part in the attack by a group of mercenaries that arrived from Tanzania.

Mozambican authorities report that the situation has been brought under control.

Observers in the region report that the mercenaries that co-opted local bandits are associated with the CIA backed “Islamic terror groups” active in the Middle East, Kenya and Nigeria.

Mocimboa da Praia is located in close proximity to the town of Palma from where Mozambique’s new offshore gas fields are administered. Palma has the largest airstrip in northern Mozambique and is the centre of exploration operations in the region for Italy’s oil giant ENI and the US’s Exxon Mobil & Anadarko.
