Angola : Illegal occupation of lands undermines housing programme

Luanda - The director of planning and urban management of Luanda Province, Hélder José, said on Tuesday that the illegal occupation of state-reserved land will hamper the implementation of the government's housing programme.

Speaking to ANGOP, the official considered that is necessary people's immediate exit from the areas designed for social housing so that the process of cleaning and urbanisation of the referred zones be carried out.

According to Hélder José, the construction of houses is a process that will not finish soon since the process of population growth is ongoing, adding that they plan to grant the deprived communities the chance to acquire their own houses, or citizens can also write a letter requesting land for self construction.
