Wits Architecture : BAS Snapshot Exhibition 2009

EXHIBITION CLOSING SOON! LAST CHANCE TO VIEW...

BAS SNAPSHOT EXHIBITION 2009 - WITS UNIVERSITY

This exhibition of current student work for the Wits Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree serves as a snapshot of what kinds of knowledge and skills are integrated into the making of an architectural designer. This engaging selection of projects is exemplary of the well-structured build-up of skills across different subjects, and gives a good overview of the course. It is especially relevant to school-leavers considering architecture as a career, since applications for this degree at Wits for 2010 will be closing soon. The BAS degree is the first step to becoming a professional architect, followed by a year of experience in an architects’ office before returning to the School of Architecture for two years of postgraduate study to attain a M.Arch.Prof. The final steps to professional registration are a period of practical experience and passing a professional practice exam.

Corobrik Architectural Student of the Year : 18 March 2009 : Wanderers Club

COROBRIK CONTINUES TO SUPPORT ARCHITECTURAL STUDENTS

Architectural graduates from seven institutions throughout South Africa will compete for the prestigious twenty-second Corobrik Architectural Student of the Year at a function to be held on the 18 March 2009 in the Ballroom at the Wanderers Club 21 North Road, Illovo, Johannesburg commencing at 18h00.

Mr. Dirk Meyer, Corobrik’s Managing Director said, “Our involvement with the architectural profession stems back to our company’s beginnings in 1902. As a Patron of Architecture and having together with our products stood the test of time ourselves, it seems fitting, in the context of the current sustainability debate where architects have such a fundamental role to play in defining our environment of tomorrow, that Corobrik should continue its support of Architectural Students of the Year programme”.

Corobrik initiated this competition 22 years ago to promote quality design practices and to acknowledge architectural talent amongst students in meeting the challenges of the day.
