Obituary : Rob Meek, Architect + Urban Planner
It is with deep regret that we record the untimely death of South African architect and urban planner Rob Meek. Rob passed away in the early hours of New Year's day following an attack on his family's holiday bungalow in the Transkei.
"Rob did his National Service at 1 Para Bn in 1968. After graduating at UPE and UCT he became a top SA architect and planner specialising in waterfront developments including the V&A in Cape Town. Rob was a Springbok yachtsman. Throughout his life he was an unassuming, dedicated, adventurous and innovative thought leader who will be sorely missed by literally thousands of friends and fellow professionals around the world." A memorial service will be held in Cape Town.
Rob was a founding member of one of South Africa's leading urban design practices, GAPP. He is survived by wife Di and daughters Claudia and Louise. The Architects Collective extends its deepest sympathies to the family.
