National Housing Corporation Intends to Cash in On Shift to Dodoma

Dar es Salaam — The National Housing Corporation (NHC) expects to construct 500 houses over the next twelve months following the government's decision to move the capital to Dodoma.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, NHC Director General Nehemiah Mchechu said his institution has already purchased land in Chamwino, Bahi and Chemba districts. NHC expects to build between 300 and 500 houses.

Mr Mchechu explained that the projects are expected to cost over Sh60 billion that would be obtained from existing property sales and cash collections from chronic debtors.
