Makurdi — The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) have expressed worries over 19, 000 abandoned public projects scattered across the country.

President of NIQS, Mrs Mercy Iyortyer made this known in Makurdi at a two-day workshop organised by the institute entitled, "Budgeting and Capital Project Monitoring and Evaluation in an Era of Change."

She said: "There are up to 19,000 abandoned projects scattered all over the country. This is not only worrisome but a monumental waste of public funds which presents a wake up call for proper planning and monitoring of projects."
