Mwanza 2035 Master Plan was submitted to the stakeholders
AN ambitious draft on Mwanza 2035 Master Plan was submitted to the stakeholders last week as part of crucial stages the strategy should pass through before final endorsement by the government.
It is anticipated that Mwanza City which, according to the 2012 National Population and Housing Census has around 0.8 million population, will grow to reach more than 2.5 million by 2035.
The rapid growth however, according to town planning experts, will make it difficult for equitable supply of social services and other basic supplies to the residents if the current shape of the second largest City of the country remains as it is today.
Basing on that fact and many others, the government sought to engage foreign consultants which were tasked with designing modern but cost effective plan for the development of Mwanza and Arusha Cities.
