Angolan Construction Minister Announces Repair of Main Roads of Country
Luanda — The revival of the intervention programme on the main roads of the country was announced Tuesday by the Minister of Construction, Waldemar Pires Alexandre.
The minister said so during an interview he granted to the Angolan Public Television (TPA).
In the interview, the minister informed that this programme is regarded "as a major one in the road area of ??intervention of the Ministry of Construction in the primary roadway of the country", having also informed the identification of the most critical sections of main roads of the country.
"These are the national roads, namely the routes Luanda/Benguela, Huambo/Waco Cungo and Luanda/Malanje/Saurimo. These are the roads we have identified as they record higher traffic volumes in the country and for this reason, the process of degradation has occurred much more quickly", said Waldemar Alexander.
According to him, there is a need to strengthen the structure of the pavements and invest in the drainage projects, both superficial and deep drainage.
The minister indicated that this strategy is outlined and, in the near future, they will be repaired, considering that the Executive will continue focused on the goals and objectives of the National Development Plan (PND), specifically in the improvement and modernization of roads for the country's development and well-being of all Angolans.
