NHC Gears Up for Low-Cost Houses

Dar es Salaam — The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is currently finalising technical issues that will enable it to start constructing low-cost houses, raising hope of an improved access to decent houses among Tanzanians.

As of 2007, it was being estimated that Tanzania's housing deficit ran to three million.

The annual demand then for houses in urban areas was 200,000 units yet only about 15,000 units could be supplied per year.
