Completion of Top Rwandan Hotels Behind Schedule

Vetting of privately-owned hospitality facilities ahead of the May World Economic Forum has started amid concerns that the top-rated hotels like Kigali Convention Centre and Marriot Hotel will not be ready.

Kigali is expected to host the 26th WEF-Africa from May 11 to 13 with figures released from Rwanda Development Board (RDB) estimating that 2,500 foreign guests need accommodation.

Though the country has registered a steady growth in the supply of hotel rooms from an estimated 7,000 two years ago to the current 8,000 rooms, a good number do not meet the standards required to accommodate the calibre of guests expected for WEF-Africa.
