Kunene Business Park Deal Turns Sour
By Shinovene Immanuel
A dispute over the construction of a N$19 million business park in Kunene region might force the government to spend close to N$10 million more than what it had initially budgeted.
The Omahenene Business Park, which is situated at the north-western border of Namibia, is hit by a delay of one year and two months because of disagreements between the companies that received the tender. The project has been stopped since 2014. News about the massive delays comes at a time when President Hage Geingob is pushing for improved implementation of state projects.
The N$19 million tender was awarded to Katrina Enterprise and Zhen Jiang Construction as the main contractors. Katrina Enterprise is owned by Ondonga princess and businessperson Katrina Elifas, the daughter of Ondonga King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas while Zhen Jiang is a Chinese company.
