Looking Ahead: Food Trends of 2016

The vegetable of the sea, seaweed is a member of the algae family and comes in a few varieties (easily divided by color). It’s alluringly sustainable; it doesn’t require fresh water or land to grow. It’s a good, but not primary, source for protein, Omega-3s, calcium, and minerals and it’s the best for iodine. Eating seaweed will also help you expand into a new flavor profile: umami.
