Oscar Pistorius: Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail while he waits to be sentenced for murdering his girlfriend in 2013. His bail is set for 10,000 rand ($700, £450), he will be placed under house arrest and monitored electronically with his passport handed over to the authorities.

#NoToSocialMediaBill: Nigerian protesters are out on the streets of the capital, Abuja while others  are taking to social media to protest against a proposed bill which critics say would restrict free speech against the government online.

One cartoonist has mocked the ruling APC for considering the bill, given how effectively it used social media to galvanize support during elections earlier this year:
