These are some of the unique features of Microsoft Office 2016

44 days ago, Microsoft released the new Office 2016, since then, customers have kept social media abuzz with all kinds of information relating to the usefulness and uncertainty regarding the software. Office 2016, which was released on September 22, 2015, is a successor to Office 2013 and is licensed to run on both Windows and Mac OS platforms.

Experts have said Microsoft’s Office 2016 is the company’s main money maker. However, Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, has said the changes the company has undergone in recent times is tied to the fact that the work environment has changed dramatically from what it was in the past. He also said Microsoft is focused on reinventing productivity and incorporating business processes for a cloud-first and mobile-first world.

“These latest innovations take another big step forward in transforming Office from a familiar set of individual productivity apps to a connected set of apps and services designed for modern working, collaboration and teamwork.”

On Thursday, November 5, 2015, Nigerian twitter was alive with activity thanks to a tweet chat with Business Group Director, Application and Services Group at Microsoft Nigeria, Ade Ajayi and he gave the following reasons why Office 2016 is the preferred software of choice for businesses, companies and organizations:

1. Official collaboration is made easier

Aside from other special features that come with Office 2016, users can now collaborate in real-time courtesy of the new features. Users often complained about Office 365 and its inability to encourage official collaboration, Microsoft has solved that problem by making the Office 2016 Suite collaboration-friendly. Another special feature is the fact that more than one person can edit a document at the same time, all in real-time of course.

2. Upgrade from Office 365 to Office 2016 is free of charge

Ade Ajayi commented that users who are currently using the Office 365 suite can upgrade to Office 2016 with no worries over spending additional money.

Office 365 which was initially released on June 28, 2011, was re-released on October 2, 2015. After this, it was praised by critics for being 100 percent user friendly as it was easily accessible by users at any level of expertise. In recent times however, a chart from Okta, a cloud app management firm, shows that Office 365 has surged ahead of Google in terms of office usage. Okta To upgrade now, click here and follow the instructions.

3. Office 2016 is Skype in-app-integration enabled

Ade Ajayi commented on the presence of Skype in-app integration, noting that it enables social messaging while users are working on documents.

While working on a document, users can video-chat, talk, instant message and share files with each other.

According to Microsoft, the integration creates a natural, collaborative experience in which users can co-author and have a conversation using instant messaging or video calling right from within a document.

4. Office 2016 is the most secure office yet

Finally, Ade Ajayi says with Office 2016, there is no issue of security and viral attacks. According to Health Care IT News, there are three features that make Office 2016 unique, they are: collaboration, productivity, and security. With the use of interconnection between the applications, as well as encryption, single sign-on and authentication, the security of Office 2016 is not easily threatened by hackers and the like.
