Strengthen Laws On Physical Development

By Issah Alhassan

Kumasi — THE GHANA Institute of Construction (GIOC) has called for a rededicated commitment from government and other stakeholders in the enforcement of laws that regulate physical developments in order to help curb incidents of disasters in the country.

The Institute is further challenging its members as well as other professional bodies to exert their authorities on the design and construction of physical infrastructures in the country. The professional body is blaming the increasing spate of disasters such as Fire Outbreaks, Flooding, and Collapsed Buildings amongst others, on relaxed rules and regulations, institutional failure and unprofessionalism on the part of some individuals in the construction industry.
