Cape Town - A large fire broke out on Devil's Peak mountain, part of the Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town, on Thursday evening.
SANParks' fire manager, Phillip Prince said the blaze broke out at around 20:00.
It was unclear what sparked it.
"The fire is not under control at the moment and it's because of a north-westerly wind blowing on the mountain," said Prince.
He said residents living close to the mountain had no reason to panic.
"The fire is quite high on the slope and it is blowing towards the top of the mountain," Prince said.
Around 30 firefighters from the SA National Parks fire crew and a group of volunteers had been dispatched.
More firefighters were expected.
