Calls for removal of ‘colonial borders’ in Africa
Africa’s city bosses want visas done away with to facilitate trade
CITY bosses across Africa want national governments to do away with visa requirements and to allow people to move freely between the various countries.
United Cities and Local Governments of Africa secretary-general Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi said the time for keeping colonial borders had lapsed.
Speaking in Sandton yesterday, Mbassi said Africa had to facilitate the movement of people to realise development and intracontinental trade.
