Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers launches retailers’ awards
THE Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) will host the Inaugural Retailers Awards 2015 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel on November 24 where more than 400 delegates are expected to grace the event.
The objectives of the awards are to recognise and reward outstanding retailers and suppliers from the retail sector and to reward retail players for the critical role they have played to sustain the economy.
“The awards are meant to celebrate, appreciate and honour business players in the retail sector which is one of the biggest contributors to the national economy,” said CZR.
CZR said it was proud to ‘bring’ the inaugural retailers awards – the first in Zimbabwe.
“These CZR awards are the first of their kind in Zimbabwe and they are expected to attract more than 400 business executives, the media and policy makers. The awards would also be a calendar event for the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers going forward,” said CZR.
They also aim to appreciate the role played by the retail industry in reviving and supporting the local industry.
“The awards are also a way of raising awareness and the profile of quality home grown goods and services and are meant to celebrate the remarkable and outstanding roles played by the retail companies in rejuvenating the economy, creating jobs, generating wealth for the nation among other objectives,” said CZR.
Some of the major award categories include retailer of the year award, wholesaler of the year, clothing retailer of the year, hardware & electrical retailer of the year, best retail promotion of the year, SME retailer of the year, retail personality of the year among others.
“Regional Retailers will also walk away with accolades. An adjudication Committee drawn from leading industrialists, consumer bodies and from leading BMOs in Zimbabwe is in place to assist in coming up with the winners,” said CZR
CZR was established in 2009 as a trust with the objective of lobbying for the recognition, growth, development and empowerment of all players in the retail space that includes supermarkets, wholesalers, hardware and electrical, stationery, clothing and information technology.
The Confederation also strives to articulate retail sector issues of interest in order to strengthen the sector towards its contribution to the fiscus.
