THE Turkana should be ready to change their lifestyles from pastoralists to businesspersons once a road to open up the region is completed, Governor Josphat Nanok has said.
The 960km Eldoret-Turkana-Juba road, neglected for more than 30 years, will cost Sh54 billion over six years.
Speaking in Lodwar town during the project’s launch on Wednesday, Nanok welcomed investors to the region.
“This road will help us fight poverty as the cost of transporting goods for sale is so high due to bad roads,” he said.
Present were officials of the Kenya National Highways Authority, World Bank and South Sudan.
