500 000 Namibians to Receive Drought Relief Food

OVER 500 000 people affected by the current devastating drought will receive food aid in Namibia. This was revealed by the deputy prime minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, during her visit to Kosis settlement in the //Karas region to assess poverty levels.
Ndaitwah said the number of people who need food aid was arrived at following a post-harvest assessment. “Over 500 000 Namibians affected by the drought need to be fed,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.
The Namibian was reliably informed that residents of //Karas and Hardap regions will not benefit from the drought relief food aid. Nandi-Ndaitwah urged those tasked with the distribution of the food aid to ensure that the food reaches those in need.
