Kebbi flood destroys bridge, farms, villages
The collapse of a major bridge due to heavy rainfall has caused flooding that destroyed farmlands and villages in Suru, Suru local government area of Kebbi State. Deputy Governor Samaila Dabai Yombe confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Saturday, yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after his visit to the affected communities.
Yombe said the flooding was as a result of the overflow of a dam which strong water waves caused the collapse of the bridge that resulted to the destruction of some farmlands and villages around the flooded area. “The state government has directed Zuru Building and Construction Company to commence the rehabilitation of the bridge,” Yombe said.
