Namibian Research Firm Worried About Housing Crisis
By Chamwe Kaira
ECONOMIC research and stock broking firm Simonis Storm Securities is worried about the housing crisis in the country, especially in view of threats by the Affirmative Repositioning movement to grab land next week.
“The land grab issue is further fuelled by misperceptions regarding receiving of free land, frustration regarding government's response and urgency of addressing land repositioning,” the firm noted yesterday.
The housing shortage in Namibia remains a great concern, especially for low-income earners.
Simonis noted that prices have sky-rocketed due to increases in input costs and the mismatch between demand and output of low-cost housing.
