People Affected By Refinery Want Inquiry
Some of the people displaced to pave way for the construction of the oil refinery have written to President Yoweri Museveni demanding for a judicial commission of inquiry into the manner in which compensation for the oil refinery has been handled.
In their letter, dated July 9, 2015, the 93 households that opted for resettlement allege that they have been marginalized in the manner in which they were told to vacate their land.
Their letter follows a commission of inquiry into Uganda National Roads Authority’s impact within the roads sector. One of the roads that have been the subject of the investigation is the Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya road, which leads to the refinery.
