New zoning regulations to lock out state valuers

Public valuers will soon not have to visit a property to assess its value before sale, thanks to ongoing digitisation of lands records and processes.

The Ministry of Lands says it has fast-tracked the process of developing a zoning mechanism to value property, with a tentative deadline of June 2016.

“We also intend to bring on board private valuers and digitise our evaluation database,” acting Lands PS, Peter Kahuho said.

“We have finished digital mapping for Nairobi and the focus is to extend this other parts of the country. ”
