Audit confirms NamPower blew millions

NAMPOWER managing director Paulinus Shilamba and two senior officials have been implicated in an investigation which confirmed that the power utility spent N$30 million on a contract that was only supposed to cost N$2 million.

The Namibian has seen a forensic audit report by Saunderson and Company auditing firm, which implicates Shilamba, chief technical services officer O'Brain Hekandjo and senior manager for energy trading Werner Graupe in the case.

Saunderson was brought in to investigate how the tender to offer advisory and commercial services to NamPower's 250MW project which was meant to be a stop-gap measure while the power utility was building its Kudu gas to power plant, was awarded.
