Bakers Inn targeting full capacity of 550 000 loaves/day by year end
BAKERS Inn, a subsidiary of Innscor is targeting to reach full capacity on its bread lines of 550 000 loaves by year end. The bakery currently produces 355 000 loaves per day.
Chief operating officer Ngoni Mazongo told journalists at the launch of new packaging that the unit was now on a growth trajectory following improvements made in the quality of its products and the marginal reduction in the selling price.
Mazongo said since the price reduction volumes had grown by up to 30% and the unit had market share of 35%.
“We have relaunched the bread and improved the quality. We will continue to invest in research and development and improve capacity until it reaches the limit of 550 000 loaves.”
The capital expenditure, including what the company has already spent on equipment and rebranding and what the company will spend to improve the fleet and plant is around $50 million.
Mazongo said the group was looking at replacing the entire fleet to boost its distribution network.
Chairman Addington Chinake at the launch of new packaging said the company would continue to invest in new equipment.
Bakers Inn bread now comes in three distinct packages.
The unit is part of the Quick Service Restaurants cluster that parent Innscor will soon unbundle in order to pursue regional expansion. - FinX
