Liberia: Millions Seized From Money Exchangers - CBL Accused, As Victims Threaten Remedial Action

[Analyst] More than 20 Liberians and three Fula foreign exchange bureau owners in Monrovia and its suburbs have accused the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) of ripping off their bureaus millions of dollar. The money exchangers affected by the CBL action claimed that money ripped of their businesses totaled LD$3.5 million. The affected bureau operators further said the respective amounts seized from individual bureaus vary L$ 11, 000.00 to LD$1.5 million, noting that this action was taken nearly a year ago in 2014.
