Kenyan Housing Survey Timely but More Targeted Intervention Required

[The Star] The recent National Household Survey 2012/13 showed that on average, urban tenant households countrywide spend 33.1 per cent of their income on rent. However, this proportion rises to 40.8 per cent for the residents of Nairobi county. Comparing this with the generally recommended average of 30 per cent, Nairobi county residents are spending a disproportionate share of their incomes on housing.
