Kenya: We Will Get Rid of Slums, Vows Charity Ngilu
[The Star]Plans are underway to eliminate all informal settlements in the country. Land secretary Charity Ngilu says the government is determined to meet the annual target of 250,000 affordable houses to overcome the housing shortage. Government figures indicate that 60 per cent of Kenya's urban population lives in slums. Ngilu also urged low income earners to form Saccos to enable them buy houses.
