Open Architecture - A New Way of Thinking

OPEN ARCHITECTURE was launched in October 2012 as an alternative tertiary augmentation to the existing full time study route to becoming a Professional Architect in South Africa. The programme aims to offer a recognised alternative to main-stream architectural education, in the form of a synthesis of online and office-based quality architecture education, to employed architectural persons who are seeking to further their education and skills, and to enable them through graduation,

to gain entrance to professional registration with SACAP.

Open Architecture is partnering with accredited Architectural Learning Sites to offer part-time courses in architecture. The first University to partner with Open Architecture is the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

In 2014 a two year part-time BTech (Applied Design) programme will be presented and the closing date for applications is 30 September 2013.

Open Architecture will be working on a range of future part-time programmes including the MArch(Prof) and MTech(Prof), but commencement dates are not yet available.

Lone Poulsen was appointed Programme Director in June 2013 and Jolanda Morkel is the CPUT co-ordinator
