Dar es Salaam CBD Building Collapses

A twelve storey building under construction in the central business district of Dar es Salaam has collapsed killing at least three people and trapping dozens under the rubble.

Rescue workers are currently on site attempting to reach survivors by removing the rubble from above pockets of intact space. News agencies report that trapped survivors are in cell phone contact with the outside.

Around fifty people are reported missing, including residents, construction workers and children from an adjacent Koranic school.

According to survivors the building started "trembling and shaking like there was an earthquake" before collapsing completely on itself.

It is not yet clear what caused the building to collapse.
