PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE EXAMINATION:  27 MARCH 2019

 

The next Professional Practice Examination (PPE) will take place on 27 March 2019.  Please note the following important dates:

27 March 2019                  -         Examination date.

31 January 2019                -           Applications open;

28 February 2019    -         Closing date for applications to write the PPE;

11 March 2019                 -         Confirmation eligibility to write the PPE.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ELIGIBILITY TO WRITE THE PPE

It has been resolved by Council that, going forward, the following will be required from a Candidate before he/she can write the PPE:

?                A Candidate can only apply to write the PPE if he/she has completed the full period of required recognised practical experience.  This implies that the Candidate must adhere to the following conditions, before he/she will be allowed to write the PPE:

?                Candidates must have been registered for the following number of months:

o      A minimum of two years for persons registered as Candidate Architects, Candidate Senior Architectural Technologists and Candidate Architectural Technologists;

o      A minimum of three years for persons registered as Candidate Architectural Draughtspersons.

?                Candidates must have submitted the required number of Monthly Training Records (MTRs) for the period stated above.

?                The period of internship shall commence on the date of registration, confirmed to the Candidate in the letter confirming their SACAP registration number.

?                MTRs for any period of time that a Candidate has not been registered or that a Candidate has been removed will not be taken into consideration;

?                The minimum value units for each category of experience, as set out in the Practical Training Policy, must have been claimed.

?                All applicants are required to pay the full PPE fee with the submission of this application.

?                No application will be considered without the full payment.

SACAP is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic person to join SACAP as an Administrator - Registrations. To provide administration support to the registration of architectural professionals and maintain registration records.

Role description

The candidate will be responsible for the following:

?            To report on own performance and work activities.

?            Retrieve online applications for Registration and finalise on the electronic system.

?            Compile reports on work done.

?            Maintain records.

?            Engage other stakeholders where necessary.

?            Handle queries by architectural professionals and general public.

?            Act on queries received from Contact Centre when required.

?            Act as relief to Contact Centre when required.

?            Understanding of relevant legislative and statutory mandate of professional bodies/ Councils.

?            Knowledge of record keeping/ documentation management systems.

Requirements

?            Matric.

?            Post-matric Certificate or Diploma or Certificate in Administration or similar.

?            Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

?            Administration background is essential.

?            PC Literacy.

?            Record keeping and archiving systems (manual and electronic).

Role description:

The candidate will be responsible for the following:

Secretariat Support to Committee Meetings

  • Plan, manage and ensure approval for the Annual Programmes and venues for Committee meetings then distribute to all identified attendees.
  • Compile draft Agenda and submit to the respective Manager: Secretariat Support and Committee Chairperson for approval.
  • Prepare Committee meeting packs and submit to the Manager: Secretariat Support and COO for review and /or approval, distribute the packs to all Committee members thereof.
  • Arrange travel and accommodation for Committee members with travel agents and forward the itineraries to the members.
  • Ensure provision of refreshments for Council and Committee meeting events.
  • Prepare and maintain attendance register, declaration of interest and confidentiality agreement of all meetings.
  • Record all Committee meetings and ensure production of quality minutes for approval.
  • Ensure distribution of Resolutions to various departments and follow up on the action list for completion.

Compliance with Corporate Governance

  • Provide information on the activities of Committees for the production of the Council?s quarterly and annual reports.
  • Ensure adequate update of Committee member?s personal details and honoraria payments.

 

Record Keeping System for Council and Committee(s)

  • Develop and manage a record keeping system (process, policy and procedures) relating to activities of Committees.
  • Maintain records of minutes and resolution of all decisions by Committees.

 

Financial Management for Respective Committee(s)

  • Compile expense submissions for Committee members? remuneration, all their claims and travel costs for attendance of meetings.
  • Submit expense submission to Manager: Secretariat Support for verification and payment.

Requirements

?         Matric.
?         NQF level 6 relevant qualification (Administration, Secretarial, Paralegal, etc).
?         Minimum of 10 years ?experience in a secretarial support role.

Call for Registered Architectural Professionals to serve on Ombudsman

In terms of section 14 (g) of the Act, Council may take any steps it considers necessary for the protection of the public in dealing with registered persons for the maintenance of the integrity and the enhancement of the status of the architectural profession. To that end, Council made Rules of Professional Conduct which registered persons are required to abide by and uphold.

 

 

SACAP seeks to introduce an Ombudsman who will assist to resolve insignificant disputes between members of the public and registered professionals promptly and inexpensively.

 

Therefore, SACAP invites registered architectural professionals in all provinces to submit applications for consideration to serve as Ombudsman in each province.

 

 

Requirements to serve on the Ombudsman:

 

1.    Registered architectural professionals in all four categories of registration and in good standing with SACAP.

2.    Knowledge of the architectural profession.

3.    Relevant Skills in Dispute resolution and Arbitrations.

 

Applications should consist of the following (in the order indicated):

1.    A letter of application (maximum two pages) explaining the applicant?s reason for applying for the appointment to serve as an Ombudsman and the value he/she could bring to this position.

2.    An abridged CV (a maximum of three pages)

3.    Three contactable referees with full names, designation, organisation, e-mail address and office as well as cell phone numbers.

 

As part of the appointment process SACAP reserves the right to request applicants to provide certified copies of qualifications and any other additional information or documentation considered necessary.

Role description
The main responsibilities will be the following:
? Coordination, administration and management of all responsibilities in relation to events
? including exhibitions, public participation and stakeholder meetings.
? Obtain quotes and procurement of project related items;
? Ensure execution of the event requirements including working with service providers;
? Follow the internal business processes and procedures timeously;
? Post event reporting;
? Liaison with PR agency and assisting with follow-up on all PR duties and responsibilities

? Liaison with service provider to complete all Corporate Identity collateral ? business

Invitation to apply to serve on the Property Management Trading Entity (PMTE) High Performance Center of the Department of Public Works (DPW)

 

PMTE is an entity within the DPW and it is responsible for the effective management of the State?s immovable assets which includes Portfolio Planning; Leases; Construction Projects; and Facilities Management.

The DPW has set up a National High-Performance Centre (NHPC) for the PMTE that will provide regular operational oversight, coordination, monitoring of portfolios, projects and quality assurance across all the projects and processes of PMTE.

Consequently, a skilled and experience assurance team is required within the NHPC for the PMTE. DPW requires two (2) architectural professionals to work on day to day operational matter within the NHPC PMTE on various sites.

 

Application Requirements:

1.       Architectural professional registration;

2.       Applications should consist of the following (in the order indicated below):

2.1A letter of application (comprising a maximum of two pages) explaining the applicant?s reasons for applying for appointment to serve on the NHPC PMTE and the value he/she believes he/she could add on the NHPC PMTE;

Call for Registered Architectural Professionals to participate in the CBE Occupational Teams

Call for Registered Architectural Professionals to participate in the CBE Occupational Teams (OT) for Strategic Infrastructure Projects (SIPs)

The Council for Built Environment (CBE), as an Intermediate Body for Professionals and Associate Professionals, intends to accelerate the development of registered built environment professionals.

To achieve this, the CBE has resolved to establish an Occupational Team (OT) for each built environment profession. On behalf of the CBE, SACAP is looking for registered persons to serve on the OT. This OT will visit institutions, capable of providing the training, to determine:

1. Is Planning profession a scarce skill? (SIPs steps 1 to 9)
2. What must be done to address the identified scarce skills? (SIPs steps 10 to 16)
3. What particular skills are needed in state departments and state owned companies to enhance delivery of the project/s? (SIPs steps 17 to 20)
4. How should the steps outlined above be managed?
 

Each OT will consist of four specialists; however, one person may be able to cover more than one area:

1. one (or more persons) who is an expert in the teaching of the foundational knowledge required for the occupation/ profession. This person will probably be an experienced lecturer from a university or university of technology
2. one (or more persons) who is an expert in the practical training required by a learner prior to workplace entry. This person may be from a state-owned company or private company or training centre where high level practical training is in place
3. one (or more) employers and/or unionists who are extremely familiar with the work that must be performed once a person is qualified. These people should come from the different sectors in which the occupation is employed - private sector, local government etc. - to provide requisite and up-to-date insight into what preparation is needed and for what work
4. one person to represent the assessing body, who knows in detail what is expected of a person who is qualified i.e. a person who undertakes a final trade test, undergoes an assessment for a licence test or who applies for professional registration

1. Registered architectural professionals and in good standing with SACAP.
2. Knowledge of the architectural profession
3. Educational background will be an added advantage.

Invitation to serve on the Awards Advisory Sub-Committee

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is established in terms of Section 2 of the Architectural Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 44 of 2000) (?the Act?). The mandate of SACAP is to provide for registration of professionals, candidates and specified categories in the architectural profession and to provide for the regulation of the architectural profession by creating standards which registered person are expected to uphold. 

SACAP seeks to appoint Awards Advisory Sub-Committee that will make recommendations to Council on the policy about awards in the architectural profession. The Awards Advisory Sub-Committee will consider all architectural work in a season and make recommendations to Council for the possible Presidential Awards or honorary fellowships, medals and prizes.

 

Application Requirements:

1.      Architectural professionals in practice;

 

2.      Architectural professionals in education;

 

3.      Honorary Fellows;

 

4.      Editor of Architectural books;

 

5.      Applications should consist of the following (in the order indicated below):

 

2.1.           A letter of application (comprising a maximum of two pages) explaining the applicant?s reason for applying for appointment to the and the value he/she believes he/she could add;

 

2.2.           An abridged CV (comprising a maximum of three pages) highlighting her/his academic qualifications, professional registrations and memberships, expertise and experience as members of any other award programmes in the built environment and/or other regulatory bodies. Include three recent contactable referees with full names, designation, organization, e-mail address, office and cellphone numbers; and

2.3.           As part of its short-listing/appointment process, SACAP specifically reserves the right to request applicants to provide certified copies of qualifications and any other additional information or documentation considered necessary.

Persons who believe that they have appropriate skills, expertise and experience, are requested to submit their applications to SACAP BY NO LATER THAN 16h00 ON THURSDAY, 28 FEBRUARY 2019.
