Volatile Market for Home Loans

Kenya's main mortgage lenders have taken a 'wait-and-see' approach as they watch developments in the financial markets. The lenders won't be reviewing lending rates at the moment unless impact of a record-high Central Bank rate, weak shilling and double-digit inflation is "significant". Housing Finance and S&L Mortgages, controlling about 60 per cent of the country's mortgage market in total, said liquidity in the money market is fairly good.
