The New Summer Look

Simpler, Faster, Better ...

Since its inception in the mid nineties Architect Africa has maintained three single goals;

  • To promote the exposure of Architects in Africa.

  • To provide an online practice resource.

  • To exhibit Building Industry products and services .

Over the years the site has performed these functions to a lesser or greater degree and has been through various "phases" of growth and development.

The new format reflects the changes in thinking and user habits which the last 12 months site statistics recorded.

In the last year Architect Africa registered just under half a million successful page requests with thousands of new visitors every month and some features were used more than others. Those that had become dated or failed to generate interest have been dropped.

Whereas our original model featured an Architects Online Database the current model has dropped that feature in favour of a more pro-active approach; the South African Institute of Architects keeps an excellent directory of architects ( See Architects link in Menu Bar) which we believe should be unique and centralised - and best maintained by SAIA.

The new thinking has led to the creation of a new powerful feature; Profiles and Tributes. This, we believe, is a more effective and more appropriate way of promoting Architects in Africa. For Architects in Africa this web site still represents the single most cost effective exposure mechanism available.

Architects in Africa - South Africa in particular - have evolved a need for a simple Online Practice Resource that is fast and simple to navigate. Architect Africa's menu of options has evolved from this need. Only the features that architects use on a regular basis have been retained; the rest have been ditched.

South Africa has the most advanced building complexes in Africa today. There are thousands of architects in practice and hundreds more graduate every year from our many Schools of Architecture. Yet architects' websites are precious few - those which we have discoverd are featured in our new ArchiNET Directory of Architects' Websites
