[This Day]To beat the tortuous traffic snarl experienced in virtually all parts of Lagos State on Monday due to the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge, commuters yesterday thronged the different bus stops of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) as an alternative transport system.

[Vanguard]Ferry services across Lagos, Tuesday, witnessed high patronage as passengers particularly besieged Ipakodo in Ikorodu and CMS jetties as alternative means of transportation, following the on-going repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge with the attendant traffic gridlock in almost every part of the city.

[Vanguard]Most of the pains that people will go through in Lagos as the Third Mainland Bridge is being fixed are avoidable. They are part of the larger lessons about the consequences of poor planning. It is a great idea to maintain the bridge, but more thoughts should have been invested in minimising disruption of life.

[The Star]Hundreds of tourists visiting the world famous Maasai Mara game reserve were stranded over the weekend after tour drivers protested the poor state of the Mara road. The protesters barricaded the road at Ewaso Nyiro Trading Centre paralysing transport services for more than two hours. They said the 85kilometre Narok-Sekenani road has deteriorated and has become impassable as the peak seasons start.

[Informer]A three-building renovated police barracks has been officially turned over to the Liberian Government for use by the Liberia National Police (LNP). The Japanese Government through the Justice and Security Trust Fund managed by UNDP, provided $US1million dollars to have the facility renovated. The Buildings which were constructed in 1984, but destroyed during Liberia's civil war, is situated on Camp Johnson Road in Monrovia and have 17 apartments and other facilities in each of them.

[The Star]Four South Mugirango parliamentary aspirants at the weekend praised MP Manson Nyamweya for initiating projects in the constituency. Master Bwondara, Joshua Ondora, Rashid Miyonga, David Kombo and Hezekiel Okeng'o said Nyamweya has improved roads in the area.
