Govt Owes Parastatals U.S.$87 Million

GOVERNMENT owes various State entities nearly US$90 million for services rendered which it is now struggling to extinguish due to budgetary constraints. TelOne, according to figures released by Finance Minister Tendai Biti on Tuesday, is the biggest creditor owed US$53, 4 million.

Minister Seeks Closure of Matapi Cells

THE Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Jameson Timba, has petitioned Harare mayor, Muchadeyi Masunda to invoke city by-laws and shutdown Matapi police cells which were condemned by the Supreme Court. The minister was detained at the police cells in June on grounds that he had insulted President Robert Mugabe by calling him a liar.
