A United States Federal High Court hearing the environmental and human rights violation case brought by the Ogale community in Rivers State against the Royal Dutch Shell and its Nigeria counterpart, Shell Petroleum Development Company Ltd has ordered a stay of the entire matter pending the decision of the US Supreme Court in Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Company.
