The 17th Nigeria National Sports Festival holding in Port Harcourt may suffer its first major set back this Friday as match officials for the games football event have threatened to down tools if their entitlements are not paid.

Lady of Songs Christy Essien Dies At 50

The lady of songs and one of Nigeria's most prominent musicians and actresses, Christy Essien Igboke is dead. She passed on to eternity Thursday morning after a brief illness, her husband of more than 31yrs, Edwin Igbokwe confirmed to Vanguard.

Day Navy 'Invaded' Oghara Community With Development Projects

It was indeed an exceptional day at Oghara, the country home of the ex-governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori. In Nigeria, the date is regarded as 'Democracy Day', but that was not the reason men, women and children of the community trooped out with the seven-letter word, ecstasy, graciously revealed on their faces, as they danced and made merry.

Sports Festival - Edo Athletes Mine Gold in PH

Edo State contingent to the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, began their quest to reclaim their rightful place in Nigerian sports by winning four gold, 2 silver and one bronze medals in the opening day events Wednesday.
