Traders in Nyeri Up in Arms Over New Fees

[The Star]ABOUT 500 traders operating in the newly opened Nyeri Kamukunji Market are planning to down tools today after the Nyeri Municipal Council introduced new charges. The furious traders will hold demonstrations and march from the market to the town hall after town clerk S.M Mulanga issued the notice on Friday. In a one-page notice signed by the town clerk, each trader is supposed to pay Sh 1,200 as stall deposit and Sh 1,200 as monthly rent. Besides, there is the usual Sh2,400 licence fees.
