2011 Tax Exemptions Yielded Little Impact

[The Star] Battery operated vehicles can be imported into Kenya duty free. This is just one of the many tax incentives pronounced in the 2011/2012 budget by the then minister for finance Uhuru Kenyatta. This was to encourage to encourage usage of environmentally friendly vehicles to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution. It never yielded the intended results and not a single battery powered car has since been imported for use on Kenyan roads.
