[IFEX] In January 2012, ARTICLE 19 analysed the Kenyan Publication of Electoral Opinions Bill, 2011 (the Bill) from the perspective of international and comparative standards on freedom of expression and freedom of information. The analysis draws upon standards of international law, as well as best practices of other states regarding these rights.

Digital Divide Returns As High Speed Cable Severed

[RNW Africa] Nairobi - It was only two-and-a-half years ago that the first undersea cable brought high-speed internet to East Africa. In this time a lot has changed. Last weekend the cable was severed by a ship dropping anchor in the port of Mombasa.

Maranda High School Tops

[Nairobi Star] Maranda Boys High school has emerged top in the 2011 KSCE exams. Maranda was fourth nationally in the 2010 KCSE results. Announcing the results, Education minister Sam Ongeri said overall, boys have dominated top positions. In the top ten positions boys took seven positions. The minister also announced the cancellation of results of 2,927 candidates due to cheating.The top five schools nationally are.
