City Hall to Blame for Ills in Built Areas - IEK

Iteere Given 7 Days to Probe Mercy's Death

Police have been given seven days to complete and submit their investigations report on the death of University of Nairobi student Mercy Chepkosgei Keino. The directive by Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko marks the first case in which his office has taken charge of the prosecution right from the investigations stage. Previously, police officers were used to collate and prosecute cases.

Konza Ranch to Be Divided for Members

The 17,479 acres of Konza Ranching and Co-operative Society in Makueni is set for sub-division among members. The society chairman David Mutangili said the government has also expressed interest in putting up an airport in the area. "Ten thousand, six hundred and one acres will be sub divided into 10.8 acre agricultural land, 6,199 acres will be sub divided to two acre plots while 1,679 acres will be set aside for public utility," chairman Mutangili said.

Sh2.97 Million for Relocation of Beach Operators

The Mombasa and Coast Tourism Association has received a Sh450,000 for the relocation of beach operators. During the United Nations World Tourism Organisation executive council meeting last week, MCTA signed an agreement with the body and the Tourism ministry for Sh2.97 million to fund the relocation off the beach. The money was a grant to the association through the ministry.
