IMF Executive Board Completes First Review Under Extended Credit Facility for Nation

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the first review under a three-year arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) for Kenya. The completion of the review enables the disbursement of SDR 43.424 million (about US$65 million), which will bring total disbursements under the arrangement to SDR 108.56 million (about US$163 million). The Executive Board’s decision was taken on a lapse of time basis.

Women Writers to Launch New Book

An organization that supports budding and established women writers in Kenya will officially launch a new book containing a collection of unpublished works on July 29, 2011 at the German Cultural Center- Goethe Institute at 6pm in Nairobi.

Archbishop of Canterbury Dedicates Site of First Anglican University

At a large gathering in Kanyuambora for a celebration of the new site for the first Anglican University in Kenya, the Archbishop helped lay the foundation stone and unveil a plaque, alongside the Archbishop of Kenya and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Archbishop of Canterbury's Visit to Kibera, Nairobi

On the final day of his visit to Kenya, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, spent the morning in Kibera, one of Africa's largest slums with a population of 700,000 living in an area of 600 acres.
