10/7/08 4:12 PM Luanda - The Angolan minister of Urbanism and Housing, Diekumpuna Sita José, Tuesday here received the United Nations undersecretary general and executive director of the UN Habitat, Anna Tibaijuka.
Anna Tibaijuka headed to the Ministry of Urbanism and Housing, after bidding farewell and thanking the governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo, for the conditions and hospitability she received in Angola, mainly in the country's capital city, Luanda.
During the meeting, Sita José discussed with the UN undersecretary general and executive director UN Human Settlement Programme, the national agenda of the territory planning system and commitment for the construction of sustainable cities.
The Government programme foresees the construction until 2012 of one million social houses throughout the country, apart from other initiatives in this sector.
Luanda was chosen by the United Nations to host World Habitat's Day, commemorated on first Monday of October, for the engagement of the African country's government in the execution of policies focused on the betterment of the population living standards.
