Luanda - Luanda City has been chosen by the United Nations to host on October 6 the central act in commemoration of the World Habitat Day, celebrated annually every first Monday of October.
In a press conference delivered Saturday, the Urbanisation and Environment minister, Diekumpuna Sita José, said that top officials from the United Nations have been invited, such as the Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United
Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka.
African Housing ministers, especially from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), were also invited to the event.
For the success of the activity, it was created by dispatch of the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, on July 31, an inter-ministerial commission in charge of co-ordinating every aspect of the technical procedures and organisation of the event.
The commission is made up by representatives from Luanda Provincial Government, the Ministries of Urbanisation and Environment, Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Finances, Public Works, Energy and Water, Culture, Social Communication and from the National Reconstruction Office. ANGOP
