Centre for security and health at work unveiled - Angola, Luanda - Angola has, since last Friday, a Centre of Security and Health at Work (CSST), with the capacity of observing 400 to 600 patients per day, foreseeing the premature diagnosis, occupational risk factors and treatment of professional diseases.The aforementioned centre was inaugurated by the secretary for social issues of the President of the Republic, Rosa Pacavira, accompanied by the ministers of Health and of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, José Van-Dúnem and António Pitra Neto, respectively.
The facility, situated in Viana district (Luanda), is a medical institution devoted to the promotion of control of the health of employees, carrying out tests for the prevention of job-related risks and work accidents, besides issuing health certificates to workers.Built in a time-span of two and a half years, in the light of the cooperation with Israel, the CSST results from an initiative of the government, through the Ministry of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the LR Group, the latter tasked with the design, implementation and equipment.To provide innovating and quality services to public and private firms, the institution is equipped with high technology and has RX, surgery, laboratory, post sterilisation and pre-treatment wards.According to the representative of the LR Group, Jorge Marques, employees shall be capable of being clinically assessed in terms of general clinic, imageology, clinical analysis, functional diagnosis, audiometry, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology, among others.The activity of this first unit designed for security and health at work shall be supported by 36 experts, including 26 nationals and 16 Israeli.
The project, funded through the credit line of Luminar Finance of Israel, includes the training of national staff locally and abroad. [ANGOP - Angola Press]
