Youths called to participate in environmental issues

Luanda , Luanda - The Ministry of Environment this Sunday launched an appeal to Angolan youths in order to participate more actively in solving major environmental problems, at a time when the world marks the Day dedicated to the Planet Earth. In a communiqué to ANGOP, the Ministry of Environment encourages young people to participate more in solving problems such as sanitation, climate change and desertification. The document informs that the participation of youths should be more active for the protection, preservation and conservation of biodiversity, because an effective model of environmental governance can only be achieved through this, and in partnership with the Angolan government and the civil society. It stresses that the celebrations of the Earth Day, marked this Sunday (April 22), happen at a time when the world is gearing up for the Rio+20 Summit, to be held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. The day dedicated to the planet earth is a result of the initiative of some 20,000 Americans who gathered to fight against the destruction of forests, land degradation, air pollution and water pollution and the preservation of a healthy environment for all.
