Thousands welcome head of State at Huambo train station
Huambo, Huambo – Thousands of people welcomed the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, at the Huambo city (centre) train station on Tuesday, as part of the president’s few-hour visit to the province, Angop learned. Accompanied by the first lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, the head of state boarded the train at São Pedro station, as the locommotive was travelling from Cubal, central Benguela province with 200 passengers aboard, including ministers, journalists, Transport Ministry officials and Benguela Railway (CFB) workers. The Angolan head of State Tuesday reinaugurated the stretch of railway from the port city of Lobito, in central Benguela province, to Huambo, after 27 years out of operation. Jose Eduardo dos Santos also reinaugurated the Huambo Albano Machado airport on the same day, following its thorough rehabilitation and modernisation.
