Situation in DRC eastern region under control - President

Angola, Luanda - The Angolan head of State and acting chairman of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), José Eduardo dos Santos, said the situation prevailing in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is under full control. Speaking at a press conference at the end of the Extraordinary Summit of SADC heads of State and Government, Jose Eduardo dos Santos stated that the DRC envoy that represented president Kabila at the organisations meeting informed him that the situation is under control. Quoting his source, the head of State added however that there are still some military actions, a kind of low intensity war, mainly carried out by deserters, who are just about to return to the barracks. According to him, DRC Armed Forces and Government are making an effort to pacify that region.
