Over one million tons of various products cropped
Cabinda, Cabinda – At least 1.9 million tons of various agricultural products were produced from 2009 to last May, in the northern province of Cabinda, said Monday the provincial secretary of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Joao Tati Luemba. The official, who was speaking at a press conference, stated that this figure represents only the production of peasant families, in the implementation of the programme to increase production, especially cassava, bananas, sorted beans, pineapples and vegetables. He considered satisfactory current levels of peasant production, mainly the products that form the basis of the diet of families in the region. Tati Luemba also stressed that the special programme of rural development allocated to the Agrarian Development Institute (IDA), which focuses on the resumption of major crops, by subsidizing the costs of inputs, land preparation and ensuring that technical assistance is well under way.
